Welcome to Venice! I am Silvia, I was born in Venice to Venetian parents. I graduated from Ca' Foscari University and started out as a teacher, then worked as a translator and tour leader before finally gaining my licence as an official tourist guide of Venice in 2003. I started conducting tours for big groups but I soon realised that I express myself at best on private tours where the contact is more personal and I can adapt the tour to my guests' interests. I am proud that many of my clients have become friends and we keep in touch even after years. I believe that studying so hard for years and passing one year of very difficult exams on Venice has been the best thing of my life because working surrounded by beauty and meeting people from all over the world enriches a person as well as being great fun. Despite its apparently small size, Venice is surprisingly rich and grand and difficult to scout so my aim is to show you as much as possible while following the rhythm of this very different city, which is at once ancient but also paradoxically so avant-garde and to make you experience it like a local. But not simply like a resident but like somebody who has spent her life to study its history and art and knows every nook and cranny (and the trendiest bars…).
