I'm Salomé, a local guide in Amsterdam for the past 6 years. I am a local shop owner, and have worked on many cultural/social projects in the city center. Together with my husband Ian - who is also on the ToursByLocals platform - I have had the pleasure to show visitors around in our beautiful hometown! MY TOURS I like to introduce you to local people, food, and current events in town. Hear about different (local) perspectives, surprising sides of Amsterdam and visit unexpected places. I do many tours in combination with my husband (Ian), who is more the 'history-expert', where I am more the cultural and current-events guide. Many times people book one tour with me and one with him. LOCAL SHOP OWNER I've studied Social & Cultural Work (BA) and have worked with different non-profits and in tourism in Amsterdam. My husband and me are the only guides in Amsterdam who own a (chocolate!) shop in the old city center/Red Light District. Here I am involved in a big project that is reshaping the neighborhood and in some social & cultural projects. MY ROOTS I was born-and-raised in the countryside of the Netherlands (Friesland), and since 14+ years a happy citizen of Amsterdam. My ancestors are connected to the Dutch 'spice trade', the trade that made Amsterdam the richest town in the world in the 17th century.
